Positive Meme
Better the world
We will be creating our own MEMEs, and in doing so are making a conscious decision to send out messages that reflect the way we would like the world to be.
1) Think of how you would like the world to be. Are you passionate about something?
Example: Vittie is passionate about
.......social justice, inclusion, reconciliation, seeing value in people, love, art, poetry, feminism, teaching, good food, happy animals, happy environment.........
2) Choose a passion and think about imagery that could go with it.
Example: Vittie is passionate about seeing value in her students and often calls them "Brilliant Young Minds" because she sees in them hope, the future, change, challenge, passion, life, love etc ...... So Vittie wondered what a brilliant young mind would look like. She imagined a young person bursting with colour, sparkles, and hearts.
For this part, you can take photographs, include hand drawings, digital paintings etc.
RULES: Your image has to be a photograph of you (or of an object taken by you) or can be hand drawn by you.
If you take a picture of another student you cannot manipulate it in Photoshop. If you want to collage or manipulate images they must be of yourself or objects.
3) Text. What would you pair with that image to get your message across in a positive way?
Example: Don't call me cute, call me a Brilliant Young Mind. This saying matches the saucy look that Ms. Vittie's daughter is making in this picture, and pairs it with a feminist idea she would love for people to adopt.
Memes are often funny or cheeky but don't have to be. Remeber, for this assignment, it is better to be positive than funny.
TIPS:
Memes often help people identify or explain a feeling. Facial expressions and body language are important.

Juxtaposition (or using opposites) is effective. For example a picture of a baby making a statement about being old.
Puns can be effective, as well as personification.
4) Create the image and put it in the photoshop template.
Make a new 7.5"x9.5"@300dpi image in photoshop.
The template for the frame can be found on the school server in Public/Vittie/Memetemplate.
