Questions to guide our learning:

01) Where can I find images to use in my artwork?

02) How do I make my digital paintings look realistic?

03) What can I say about other's artwork that is both positive and relevant?

Objectives:

  • Learn about Canadian Copyright Laws

  • Learn about creative commons and resources for images with permissions (like unsplash, pexels or pixabay)

  • Learn essential tools in Autodesk Sketchbook

  • Learn about Colour Realism and Shape Realism

  • Learn about sharing and responding to other's work in a gallery setting.

In art terms to "study" something is to draw or paint it, so that one can achieve a realistic colour and or shape of a thing. For this project we will be doing a FRUIT STUDY, which has a long tradition in the painting world, to practice the skills of drawing or painting.

As this is a DIGITAL arts course we will be painting our fruit digitally, and we will also be using a digital source image. Before we start, it is important to understand copyright laws, so that we can use an image with the proper permission.

This unit is comprised of 3 assignments; It will require a research component 01) Fruit Study Research (finding an image you have permissions for, and completing the research worksheet), as well as a painting component, 02) Fruit Study Digital Painting (using Autodesk Sketchbook), and finally a sharing component 03) Fruit Study Gallery (where students share an comment on each other's work).
